16 Days to Christmas

This past weekend I was able to give a quick pre-Christmas surprise to my family in the form of a visit.

Being over 1500 miles away it felt good to be able to see my family if only for a moment.

I happened to be on that side of the world due to a work-related conference hosted at my alma mater Rutgers University!

Though the conference was clearly focused on student affairs, the themes of reflect, reimagine, and reach had some strong personal meaning for me.

The keynote speaker Dra. Aurora Chang was great and spoke about the importance of telling your story. This idea that you should share your story is not the first time I’ve heard it. I feel like I keep hearing this message to write, share your story, and that it matters. Dra. Chang specifically talked about how our story matters and has value and that it’s not just telling our story for ourselves but for those that look like us and those that are connected to us. It was an inspiring keynote that ended up with us committing to write and share our story.

I have been a writer for nearly 17 years now mostly journaling away in my diaries and notebooks throughout the years just for myself. After watching this movie called The Perfect Man starring Hilary Duff I remember her writing an online journal aka a blog. I feel like shortly after I started my CiggyChat blog on blogger.com thinking it was the next step in my journaling ways. The movie was not about blogging, it is more of a romantic comedy (one of my favorite genres) and as you know just this past June I made this blog an official .com.

The various posts of my blog are part of my story and I hope to continue to share it with you and those near to me. Praying for the right words and timing to share more and more of my story as it does matter and hopefully can help much more than one who lives it.

Until next time,

I’m CiggyG
