Celebrate Life

Hi there dreamers,

This past month has been quite full of celebrating life.

According to Google, celebrate means to acknowledge (a significant or happy day or event) with a social gathering or enjoyable activity. It’s time to recognize someone or something. This past month life was celebrated on birthdays but also with a few people passing away. It’s sometimes strange, for me, to think of celebrating life when you lose someone but I’ve learned this past month how very important it is to do that. I didn’t always do that and with the loss of a couple different family members this past month I finally had to take a moment to pause, grieve, reflect, and remember.

When I used to think of loss, I didn’t really process it or give it time. With the recent loss of loved ones and important figures, I was able to be present and in the moment with close ones that were impacted. It’s a difficult time to go through but one that is important. It’s during this time that you retell old stories, remember the good, silly, crazy, and wonderful things that a person did. You remember your interactions with them and the impact they have on your life and others.

Though it hurts to lose someone, it is so important to remember them and celebrate them for the life they had. As I am writing this I can’t help but think of a movie I’ve watched countless times, Coco, being a bit of a Disney girl.

Even though I didn’t grow up celebrating Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), I’ve always loved the story in this movie. So silly that I would sing along to this animated movie but not take the time to do this in my own life for those I’ve loved and lost.

This past month, and even today as I write, I’ve taken that time to celebrate, remember and reflect on those people that have passed on.

Moving forward I plan to take the time to celebrate life, in the moment, and to honor those that have passed on by living my life to all that God has willed me to do.

Achieving your dream is an important goal but the journey along the way, the obstacles you face and get through, the people you meet and impact, all the little moments that get you to the dream, are just as important. That’s what makes up one’s life and yes those big accomplishments will be recognized but it’s the personal impacts, the small moments, the inside jokes, times you cried, prayed, and struggles you got through together that someone remembers.

So remember to enjoy the journey dreamers and celebrate life along the way.

Until next time,

I’m Ciggy
