Dream Big…and Nothing Else
Lately I have been hearing messages constantly reinforcing the ideas that dreams will always be dreams if no action is taken. I am a woman of many dreams and I have no idea which dream to put action to first but part of me wants to go all in at once and just have faith that God will allow them to happen as they should. Just this past week I did either something really bold or just entireely stupid but the butterflies in my stomach that I felt as I was doing it…makes me feel like I am finally taking a step in the right direction and doing something so…

Day by Day
Two summers ago I had the wonderful opportunity to live right in the heart of the city that never sleeps: New York City! During my time there I got a chance to dabble in my favorite past time of musical theater and see Godspell! A wonderful musical telling a few of the stories of Jesus and his disciples and enacting parables from the Bible all leading up to the moment that Jesus Christ gave his life for us. It was a wonderful story and one of the songs that stick out from the musical is Day By Day (sung by Anna Maria Perez de Taglé). I am realizing that I…

Time
Time is such a strange and interesting concept. I mean, yes it is a real thing however it is so subjective and perceptive all at the same time. In the work that I do, I cannot measure it in a 40-hour work week not even a 50 or 80 hour work week….I would call it more of a 24/7 lifestyle which if you know anything about housing and residence life on a college campus that is spot on. Seriously thinking about time I am twenty something year old which is quite young if I say so myself and you think you have all the time in the world to accomplish…

Life Twists & Turns
I am experiencing another stage of my life and its exciting, scary, lonely, crazy, and invigorating. I started this blog on my first step of adulthood: starting college. It has been six years since that moment and now not only do I have a Bachelor’s degree but a Master’s Degree as well. It is crazy for me to fathom that sometime but I must admit I feel blessed. Upon completing my Master’s I went for a complete new start and moved literally across the country for my first full-time job. It is weird I am finally making a salary and settling into my life alone and no longer a student.…

The Student has become the Master!
This post comes a few weeks late but I have officially graduated. That is right… I now have a Master of Education degree in College Student Affairs. It is crazy…and I will also be starting my very first full-time job in the field/ever as a full-time Residence Hall Director at Northern Arizona University in a few short weeks!! That’s right this girl from the East Coast is moving way west to Flagstaff, AZ!! I am so excited and even though legally I have been an adult for years…I am about to take my first real steps as an adult and out of school!! I know this post was intended to…

Culminating
This past week, my cohort members and I presented our culminating presentations for our grad program. Even though we are still taking electives that presentation signified us completing our work in the grad program. Even though the presentation day has came and passed…I am still processing the fact that this graduate journey is almost to an end. Immediately after our presentations a couple of classmates and I went and bought our graduation robes which furthered the realization of this moment. Still in shock but needed to comment, Rena Tilisa Gore

The Crush Factor
I am a girl that has had many crushes in my lifetime so far. They are almost always different, not one like the other, and in a spare moment I started to wonder what is it about them that made them my crush. It was a host of things that drew me to each and everyone of them: sense of humor similar interests dreams and goals they had shared beliefs physical attraction their smile/lips their eyes their arms poetry skills their intellect their direct approach values they believed in familiarity comfort around them. It may be a combo of the things above that drew me to them, maybe, or maybe…

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!! It is day 15 of this new year but since this is the first time I am writing in 2013 that statement still rings true! One of the best times about a new year is that it is almost a new start a chance to redo or try something new, reflect on the past and explore where you want to go. That makes this time of the year quite perfect in working on my culminating project for graduate school. At Rutgers in the College Student Affairs program our big culminating project includes a 25 page learning narrative. The learning narrative essentially is a reflection of all my…
