Freewrite Sunday
I think today is a freewrite kind of day. This past month I have taken in quite a lot of information as I try to make moves for the next step in life and getting back on track to my dreams. I believe that is very useful and that I will forever be a learner. However, sometimes you need a moment to stop and just process or better yet reflect on everything. Today’s post is quite short so that I can take a moment to just reflect on what I’ve learned and plan accordingly about the next step. If you’ve been following along lately, you may have noticed that I…

Inspiration via Broham
Inspiration and motivation to achieve your dreams may come from various things or people. Today, I had the opportunity to talk to my younger brother (aka my broham) who truly inspires me because he is quite passionate about his talent and pursuing his many dreams. Apparently this dreaming thing runs in the family. My brother and I are 5 Years, 6 Months, and a day apart. We shared a room practically his whole life until the point I left for college. Needless to say we are close despite the age and varying interests differences. I’ve always felt that he would become some great storyteller and potentially create something like the…

Dreamline
Yesterday, I mentioned that I want to start writing my plans out for my dreams and giving them over to God to help make them happen! This past week, I just so happen to be reading a book title The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss. I am definitely not done with the book yet but so far so good and it is chalked full of great tips, comfort zone challenges, questions and recommendations. My favorite thing in the book as of now is that he encourages this idea of a dreamline where he provides worksheets and everything so that you can create immediate action steps and figure out the monthly…

Dream Planning & God
I mentioned in the Niche post my personal mission statement and I am so excited that this coming week I am getting to help my own momma set some plans in motion to go after her dreams!!! Be expecting more information in the near future about what she has in store. On another note… Lately in the midst of trying to go after my own dreams, I’ve had some negative reactions over minor things that honestly should not upset me. I’ve had to come to terms lately that there are quite a few things beyond my control and in trying to let go of those, I put a lot of…

Dream Talk
I can and have spent many a day just talking about my dreams and what the future may hold. I dream at night and in the day about this. For anyone that is familiar with StrengthsFinder, Futuristic is among my Top 5 strengths which explains a lot about my ability to dream. I feel though it is a strength it is a double edge sword and though I dream often about the future…worry about the future trickles in just as often. In my mind, worry is that annoying person that keeps pestering you with the why and how questions versus letting you, you know dream. Sometimes, worry tricks me up…

My Niche
Niche… As defined by the google dictionary is an adjective that means denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population. You may be wondering about the random word of the day definition given above. Well as I mentioned previously, this .com experience is a new one for me and I am so beyond pumped about it. However in most, if not all, of my research plus you know talks with those close to me (cue:looks at significant other) you must have your niche to make it out in the blogging world. Things like parenting, travel, food, fashion, and general lifestyle…

The Next 50 Days
Hi there CiggyChat Readers! Yesterday was the official launch of CiggyChat.com!! Prior to that this blog lived on ciggychat.blogspot.com and I was smack dab in the middle of #the100dayproject where you commit to doing something for 100 days straight. And for me that was blogging. I started this project back in April and should be near the end but due to some hiccups and life distractions, this is only post 51 out of 100. Don’t worry though, I am determined to complete this project and if my calculations are correct this project should be completed by mid to late August as long as everything goes according to plan. I share…

Reslife in Summer
In Summer, The school year is done and the question on people’s mind is what does a RCD once the residents go? A lot, my friends, a lot. For starters, though the students are summer vacation, we still live on the college campus…this is our permanent home while working at the university. And for many this role is a 12-month position meaning that you are expected to work in the midst of the breaks. So here are a few things that you may find someone with a live-in position might be doing in summer: Working Summer School Housing Working with summer conferences – during the breaks of a school year…

Recap of the Past 3 Years
Hello Reslife friends and readers, Just a quick recap or update as I haven’t published a post in 3 years to this site! July 2015 – June 2016 This was my last year at NAU as an RHD…I felt a very strong spiritual pull and calling to go to Dallas, TX and put in my resignation with NAU around November/December 2015 for the end of the 15-16 Academic year with no job or home in site…the craziest thing I’ve ever done! A lot of things happened in the midst of this time: bonds with peers, new side hustles and business ventures, resparks of old working teams, a friend’s wedding, roller…

Real Life with Me
Hi! It has been quite some time since I’ve last wrote. Two years to be in fact and I’ve learned quite some things since that time. As you know, I completed grad school to start my professional work in residence life and that is exactly what I have been doing these past two years. Working with the lovely yet challenging and ready to take the world first year residents of my hall and the ever so strong, fierce, and independent upperclassmen that make up my staff made me realize that I want to do a bit more with my work. Honestly I got into this career because I’m a dreamer…
