  • 19 Days till Christmas!!

We are officially in the teens of our countdown till Christmas!! These past couple of days have been a bit nonstop (similar to this season): 21 days to Christmas I had a full day of meetings, appointments, errands to run, and a community holiday function. It was a day filled with highs and low including some great discussion, hard conversation, mild frustrations, lost packages, flat tires, positive staff bonding, and quality time with good people. 20 days to Christmas I had a work study break event, car issues to tackle, a bag to pack, and a plane to catch, and friends to catch up with once I arrived. 19 days…

  • 22 Days till Christmas!!

Hi there friends, It’s 22 days till Christmas! This past weekend kicked off the events of the season. White Elephant Gamble Saturday was my first holiday event of the season and it featured a true white elephant gift exchange where in this case the rules are anything goes – meaning it does not need to be a brand new gift but something from your own home. My gift that I brought was very kid-friendly as I knew their would be kids at the event as a family was hosting this party. The recipient for my gift was an 8 year old! So for a family friendly gift exchange, you may…

  • Merry Grinchmas!!

Happy December (also known as 24 days till Christmas)!! It appears that every channel you turn to right now you see a Grinch commercial of some sort for the new Grinch that came out last month. For my sister this is probably one of her favorite part of the holidays as she happens to be a big fan of the Grinch, particularly, Jim Carey’s rendition of the How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  My sister who holds many roles including that of a choreographer and CEO of  Schooling Talent has decided to have a #twerkinggrinch challenge. Check it out here and feel free to share your response to the challenge on instagram tagging…

  • 26 Days to Christmas

26 Days to Christmas… And lights and trees are going up every where you turn. Christmas Carols are playings. Lifetime and Hallmark are filled with Christmas movies! It is a time to be around folks you love and care about and something about this time is just so magical! Today, I even got to ride in a horse-drawn carriage! ….it is honestly my favorite time of the year!!! Resilience & the Holiday Season Today while at work I attended a webinar where we talk about resilience and what attributes to people having a high resilience. In the webinar we learned that it is not really a trait of a person…

  • 4 Things that Get Me through the Journey

The dreamer’s journey and well the journey of life is not an easy one. There are many roadblocks, detours, and unpaved roads along the way that can easily throw one for a loop. I wish I could tell you that none of it bothers me or I don’t react to it but that would be a complete and utter lie. So here are a few things that I use to make it through this journey of life as I work to accomplish and tackle my many, many dreams. 1. First and foremost, God! I am a Christian and proud of it. My faith is something that truly anchors me and…

  • Balance & Priorities

Personally and professionally I’ve been struggling with this topic of finding the right balance and prioritizing what when. In this day and age with social media and instant gratification everything appears to be a priority. Whatever is asked is expected to be simply answered or made top priority but how does one do that when they are pulled in several different areas. My specific work is unique where I live where I work so it’s often a fine line of balancing my business day versus my personal time. The worlds blend as I often may socialize with my colleagues and more often than not I’ll respond or work on “work…

  • Long Day

Today was a long one filled with a few heavy topics as we trained our folks in handling tough situations. Situations like sexual assault, suicide prevention, and domestic/date violence. I helped to facilitate some of those conversations and discussions. I believe the biggest takeaway that came from today is about having genuine connections and real relationships with people. In doing that you’re able to be a support to someone and have someone looking out for you too. At the end of a long day or in the midst of any of the situations we discussed it helps to have someone that is genuinely there for you and to know that…

  • Happy International Self-Care Day!

For the past few months or so, I’ve had the pleasure of receiving alerts from Shine. It is a quick dose of positivity and inspiration that comes to my phone Monday through Friday. For those interested in that I would definitely recommend you joining in here. In today’s message from Shine, I learned that it is International Self-Care Day and learned some ways that people from around the world practice self-care in this article. In reading the article, it was cool to observe that those around the world and myself have similar self-care practices. My self-care practices include the following: blowing bubbles cooking counseling dancing music praying reading time with…

  • Recap of the Past 3 Years

Hello Reslife friends and readers, Just a quick recap or update as I haven’t published a post in 3 years to this site! July 2015 – June 2016 This was my last year at NAU as an RHD…I felt a very strong spiritual pull and calling to go to Dallas, TX and put in my resignation with NAU around November/December 2015 for the end of the 15-16 Academic year with no job or home in site…the craziest thing I’ve ever done! A lot of things happened in the midst of this time: bonds with peers, new side hustles and business ventures, resparks of old working teams, a friend’s wedding, roller…
